Dean Kurtz Construction is working on construction of the Borated Polyethylene Shielding mazes which are designed to block the trajectory of neutrinos from room to room while still allowing electrical, plumbing, fire sprinkler, and HVAC systems to pass through! Our subcontractors continue work on installing their systems with in the CASPAR cavern as well as the BHSU Cleanroom space.

DKC is working on finishing up refinishing the floor and installing door frames while WD Masonry follows behind installing concrete masonry walls. Also, Rocky Mountain Clean Rooms is installing the hard-wall modular cleanroom in the Black Hills State University cavern. Radiation shielding walls, doors, and mazes are next on the list!

Wing walls on the southeast side of the pedestrian bridge are complete and crews will now be moving to the northwest side.
Excavation has begun for the volleyball pit. DKC crews will begin installing volleyball poles, nets and boundary lines in conjunction with the sand placement.
Picture from the 4th floor of the building overlooking the BHSU campus and site activities. Work continues on the Amphitheater tiered concrete seating as well as the pedestrian bridge foundations and wing walls.

The netting serves two purposes: it is designed to be debris netting to catch falling concrete debris from the wind damaged roof, it will also double as fall protection for the contractor whom replaces the damaged roof structure in the future.

Interior Office and Bathroom renovation at Respec, Jet Dr. Rapid City. All construction work is being coordinated around normal business activity. The completion of the initial Mid-Level Bathroom stage one is on schedule for turn-over, enabling demo work to begin soon for the Upper Level Kitchen area.

The building envelope is enclosed sufficient enough to allow interior finish work to begin in certain areas of the project. Metal stud framing and gypsum wallboard continue to be installed as well as mechanical and electrical rough in work. Interior walls are being taped, textured, and painted. The curtain wall glass is schedule for arrival on the project the week of January 12th which will fully enclose the building addition upon installation.
