Precast bridge work underway at Crow Peak Hall.

Wing walls on the southeast side of the pedestrian bridge are complete and crews will now be moving to the northwest side.

Excavation has begun for the volleyball pit. DKC crews will begin installing volleyball poles, nets and boundary lines in conjunction with the sand placement.

The basement floor has been completed and work continues on the first slab on deck.

The netting serves two purposes: it is designed to be debris netting to catch falling concrete debris from the wind damaged roof, it will also double as fall protection for the contractor whom replaces the damaged roof structure in the future.

Work is continuing on the wing walls for the pedestrian bridge.

Interior Office and Bathroom renovation at Respec, Jet Dr. Rapid City.  All construction work is being coordinated around normal business activity.  The completion of the initial Mid-Level Bathroom stage one is on schedule for turn-over, enabling demo work to begin soon for the Upper Level Kitchen area.   

The building envelope is enclosed sufficient enough to allow interior finish work to begin in certain areas of the project. Metal stud framing and gypsum wallboard continue to be installed as well as mechanical and electrical rough in work. Interior walls are being taped, textured, and painted. The curtain wall glass is schedule for arrival on the project the week of January 12^th which will fully enclose the building addition upon installation.

Precast wall panels and structural steel are near complete to enclose the new addition on the Coca Cola Addition project. The north face of the project will be a clerestory with full height exterior glass wall and open from first floor up through the second floor.  Interior framing and rough-in work continues on the project. The new 5,000 square foot office addition is scheduled for completion in April 2015.

The masons have begun to place the brick veneer at the Northeast corner of the building and were working towards the west up to the bend of the building at Grid ‘W’.

Site work associated with the pedestrian bridge is ongoing. The third column has been poured. The abutment walls will follow.

Black Hills Steel Erectors are continuing steel and precast erection at the commons areas (P-West). Reinforcing steel for the concrete floor topping is being placed and the floors will be poured as soon as possible.

The mechanical contractor has installed some of the ventilation mains on the third floor. As the ducts are installed the ends are sealed as required by LEED IEQ Credit 3.1: Indoor Air Quality During Construction. 

MQ-9 Bunker Roof Replacement, EAFB SD.  GBK Joint Venture crew has completed the waterproofing replacement system for the roof of an underground vault.  All existing waterproofing membranes were excavated and exposed, and a multiple series of new materials was installed to replace the others which had failed.

Work continues on the new parking lot for the Burger King on East North Street in Rapid City. 

Work continues on the exterior steel stud framing on Crow Peak Hall. The framers had the challenge of figuring out how to stand 54’ long steel studs on the exterior of the building. They are making good progress as the bulk of the north side of the building is complete, with window framing left to be completed. 

Demolition work has begun on the Ft. Meade Surgical Tower. 

The Todd County Elementary School was completed on August 15th and was ready for 650 kids grades K-5. First day of classes was August 26th.

Structural steel, hollow core plank, and architectural precast panels are being erected to form the shell on the new addition to the Coca Cola project. Crews are working to enclose the addition before the end of October. Interior framing and rough in work are taking place within the existing space remodel area.

GBK Joint Venture; provides TECTUM Acoustical sound treatment for the walls and ceiling baffles of the CATM Indoor Firing Range, Ellsworth AFB SD.  A design/build performance contract issued to our team for the reduction of sound reverberations inside the facility while in use for training activities.

Crews work to complete the site work on the new Todd County Elementary School schedule for an August 15, 2014 completion. The interior of the facility is on track to meet the scheduled completion date. The photo depicts a typical classroom at the facility.

Dean Kurtz Construction and their design partners LEO A Daly are pushing toward completion of the design for Black Hills State University’s new underground cleanroom. The cleanroom will be located at the 4850 level of the Sanford Underground Research Facility (roughly 330 feet above sea level) in Lead, South Dakota. This image shows how the modular cleanroom will be oriented in the cavern with its HVAC and electrical systems. Dean Kurtz Construction will be pouring a new concrete floor in the cavern to level the uneven rocky surface and to provide a smooth foundation for the modular clean room to reside. 

DKC has completed the irrigation ditch which flows through the site and provides lawn irrigation water to the college as well as residents downstream. 

Oglala Sioux tribal officials, veterans and spectators gathered Wednesday on a hilltop east of Kyle to dedicate the Akicita Owicahe Lakota Freedom Veterans Cemetery, the second of its kind in the nation.

Two iron gates adorned with metal eagle feathers greet visitors who can then view a driveway lined with American flags. An information and visitors center sits at the end of the drive. 

The cemetery has 320 burials vaults, a traditional burial ground where graves will be dug by hand and a shelter for urns. It consists of 18 acres on a 63-acre site.

The site was made possible by a $6.5 million grant by the Department of Veterans Affairs. It is the second in the nation to be built since 2006, when the VA opened its cemetery grants program to tribal governments. The Rosebud Sioux Tribe completed the first one in 2012 with a $7 million grant.

Tribal members carry staffs and flags Wednesday into the Akicita Owicahe Lakota Freedom Veterans Cemetery eight miles east of Kyle for a dedication ceremony. The tribal veterans cemetery is the second of its kind in the nation and was funded by a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

An information and visitors center is one of the features at the new Akicita Owicahe Lakota Freedom Veterans Cemetery, which is eight miles east of Kyle.
